Right now, it’s a serious likelihood that WWE could be put up for sale. The end of the road might be near with Vince McMahon coming back as Executive Chairman.
Despite years of success, the corporation may soon have new owners. According to reports, McMahon came back to ensure that WWE could be sold sans problem.
Even though he resigned in embarrassing manner in 2022 after the alleged sexual misconduct charges, Vince McMahon stayed the promotion’s primary stakeholder.
He left Stephanie McMahon, Nick Khan, and Triple H in charge, and they have been handling it impressively ever since. However, this might change soon enough.
Fans of professional wrestling should get ready for a new chapter as WWE might now be offered for sale.
Why Mr. McMahon Wants To Sell The Company
But it’s unclear why the executive Chairman would actually want to sell the business. Since it is his life’s labor, he would not be so eager to give it up so easy.
According to rumours, Vince McMahon is inclined to the sale of WWE. He reportedly intends to sell company before the hefty broadcast rights deals take place this year, as per the speculations.
Prior to renewing media rights, the corporation is arranging a full sale first. One might wonder why is he selling now, when his stock might rise after the hefty broadcast deal.
The reason might be because of the post pandemic recession in the advertisement market and significant drop (halved) in viewership, WWE might not get a deal as lucrative as the previous ones.
WWE is surely already in talks with various broadcasters and would have figured out what deal they might get. If the deal they get is smaller than previous one, the share would take a hit.
So it would be prudent to sell the stake at the peak, and then who knows they might buy it back at a significantly lower price.
Vince McMahon discusses the sale of WWE.
In a declaration, Vince McMahon discussed his comeback. Vince addressed the speculation that WWE was up for sale and said he was returning to supervise the next important decisions the business was planned to make.
In the statement, McMahon reportedly said that his reappointment as Executive Chairman and supervision of the procedure is the only way the business can assure that the proper judgements are made.
In order to ensure that the future was secure, he advised the promotion to gain the backing of the majority shareholder regardless of wether they opted for a renewal or an outright sale.
One can always hope that WWE continues being the dominating wrestling organisation that we all know and love, no matter what.
The homecoming of Vinnie Mac looks like the sort thing he would plan during the Attitude Era. Given the fantastic job the new leadership is doing, the response from the fans to the return has been split.
