Finally appearing to be finished is the endless drama involving Sasha Banks and WWE. The former women’s champion is no longer affiliated with WWE.
Former wrestler Dutch Mantell recently responded to the question about Sasha Banks being done with WWE. He appeared to be supporting the organisation.
Since Sasha Banks and Naomi left a RAW programming mid-way in May, there had been a lot of discussion about their position as WWE wrestlers.
Sasha Banks was freed from her contract, after WWE and she were unable to reach an agreement on the new salary. She then debuted in NJPW as Mercedes Mone.
Sasha has reportedly demanded more than what Chris Jericho was paid in NJPW during his Alpha vs Omega feud. She has asked for over $100K per appearance.
According to reports, the 30-year-old star wanted to be paid as much as two other prominent female superstars, but WWE authorities had other plans.
Let us tell you, WWE pays most of its top female superstars including likes of Bayley, Asuka and Alexa Bliss, a salary of $350,000. Natalya makes $300,000 a year. Rest of the women’s division earns less than that.
Sasha was reportedly making $550,000 a year in 2021 which was more than her earlier salary of $250,000. Sasha was definitely underpaid compared to few others, but her demand was too unrealistic.
It looks like Banks wanted a gigantic multifold hike in her salary. This might be due to the fact she is getting offers from Hollywood as well. She has already done cameo in a Stars Wars’ web series.
Demanding a salary like two other prominent female superstars meant she wanted to a pay like Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch who earn 4 to 6 times more.
Currently, Charlotte Flair makes $1.1 million a year, and is only behind Ronda Rousey ($2.1 million) and highest paid female superstar Becky Lynch (3.1 Million). Merchandise sales also contribute to this.
Dutch Mantell thinks the WWE wasn’t wrong to cut relations with Sasha Banks. He didn’t like the way Banks decided to address the things. Mantell said that WWE didn’t have to give in to Sasha Banks’ demands in order to win her favour.
The veteran said :
“She made a poor first impression by abruptly quitting her job and embarrassing the business. Now they have no need to cooperate with her, and they have no desire to give her anything.”
“It will send a wrong message to everyone else out there. If you want a hike, leave a show mid-way and WWE will give you what you want.”
