CM Punk has been out of AEW ever since the backstage melee following the All Out PPV. Punk also suffered a triceps injury at the event which required him to undergo a surgery possibly keeping him out for 8 months.
At the Full Gear pay-per-view, The Elite, who were part of the “Brawl-Out” made their comeback. They competed in a trios match but ended up being on the losing side.
The Elite appeared in another trios battle on last night’s Dynamite where Kenny Omega made fun of CM Punk and Ace Steel, which infuriated the wrestling crowd at Chicago.
Chicago which served as the venue for this week’s episode of Dynamite, is also CM Punk’s homeland. The fans chanted for CM Punk during the show.
Also, in response to the “F**k CM Punk” chants made at Full Gear, the crowd started chanting “F**k The Elite” as soon as The Elite entered the ring.

Pac was bit by Kenny Omega during the bout mocking Punk’s friend Ace Steel. He hit CM Punk’s GTS to further troll the Chicago crowd.
By deliberately botching The Buckshot Lariat, Hangman’s finisher, Matt Jackson also tried to make fun of Punk’s botch against Hangman.

The trolling by The Elite led many fans into believing that CM Punk was not done with AEW yet and might return after he recovers from the injury.
CM Punk will return to AEW, and he's gonna become the biggest heel in professional wrestling.
I can't wait.

Calling it now. Hopefully not ageing well…
CM Punk will return in January during Match 7 of the Trios Title fight between the Elite and Death Triangle…

CM Punk has got to return now. Will be one of the biggest wrestling feuds of all-time

Imagine when The Elite inevitably get the trios titles, CM Punk returns to challenge them, and his partners are FTR. Would be good business. If The Elite mocking Punk isn't for any payoff, then it's really pointless. Especially if they're baby faces. #AEW #CMPunk #FTR

Interstingly, contrary to what The Elite did in Chicago, Omega had stated in a recent interview that he wanted the supporters to forgive everyone and forget about the brawl.
A report suggests that those who are close to CM Punk were not happy with whatever happened at Chicago. This means CM Punk’s AEW future remains uncertain and Chicago incident was more of a crowd trolling than a return build-up.
